Senecio antisanae is a species of Senecio in the aster family found only in the subtropical or tropical moist montane region of Ecuador. It is threatened by habitat loss.[1]
It is a terrestrial herb that is only known from a few old collections in the Andes. The only subpopulation with detailed location information was recorded at the Hacienda del Isco, in the foothills of Volcán Antisana in the Cordillera of Quito,[1][2] in 1845.[2] This subpopulation may now be inside the Antisana Ecological Reserve,[1][2] a privately owned reserve that preserves the native flora and fauna of the Northern Andean páramo.[3] The species may be a synonym of S. iscoensis (Nordenstam in Jørgensen and León-Yánez 1999), which itself may be properly named Aetheolaena senecioides. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums.[1]

Senecio antisanae es una especie de planta herbácea del género Senecio en la familia Asteraceae. Es un endemismo en peligro de extinción por la pérdida de hábitat.[1]de las montañas subtropicales o tropical húmedas de Ecuador en la Provincia de Pichincha.
Se trata de una planta herbácea de la que sólo se conoce unos pocos ejemplares adultos de los Andes. El locus typicus se encuentra en la Hacienda del Isco, en las faldas del Volcán Antisana en la Cordillera de Quito,[1][2] que hoy día está integrada en la Reserva Ecológica Antisana,[1][2] una reserva de propiedad privada que conserva la flora y la fauna del Norte de los Andes.[3] Ningún ejemplar de esta especie se encuentran en los museos del Ecuador.
Senecio antisanae fue descrita por George Bentham y publicado en Plantas Hartwegianas imprimis Mexicanas, nº 1167, p. 210[1], 1845.[4][5]
