Centriscus cristatus (De Vis 1885)

Main dorsal spine rigid, without joint. Dusky to yellow mid-lateral stripe and adults with several blue bars along upper sides (Ref. 48635).Description: Characterized by extremely thin or flattened and nearly transparent body with yellow-brown stripe from snout, through eye, to base of caudal fin; horizontal first dorsal spine, projecting beyond tail tip, without movable segment posteriorly; interorbital convex without groove (Ref. 90102).

Found on coastal waters. Occurs solitary or in small groups in seagrass habitats, inshore or in estuaries (Ref. 48635). Benthic (Ref. 75154). Largest shrimpfish (Ref. 48635).
