Agriophyllum latifolium Fisch. & C. A. Mey.

Annual, divaricately branched from the base, up to 50 cm. Leaves petiolate, rounded or sub-cordate at base, smaller above. Glomerules in the axils of all leaves, borne on projections of geniculately curved inflorescence branches. Perianth of usually 2 oval incised-toothed segments. Fruit 4-6 mm long, with scattered hairs, produced into a rather long somewhat spiny, bifid beak, winged in upper part, the wings forming 2 lateral sub-entire lobes gradually and narrowly decurrent into the beak. Seeds oblong-oval or elliptic, 1.5-2 mm long, erect.

Distribution: C. Asia, Afghanistan and Pakistan

Fl. Per.: July-October.

A sand tumble-weed which may be collected in masses.
