It is found in Uganda, along the coast of Kenya and in Tanzania, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Sankuru and Lualaba), Mozambique and South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal).[2] The habitat consists of savanna, bordering forests.

Spindasis apelles is een vlinder uit de familie van de Lycaenidae.[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1878 door Oberthür.
