Morpho polyphemus (englisch White Morpho = „Weißer Morphofalter“) ist ein Schmetterling (Tagfalter) aus der Familie der Edelfalter (Nymphalidae).
Die Falter erreichen eine Spannweite von bis zu 14 cm. Im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Arten der Gattung Morpho haben sie keine blaue, sondern eine weiße Grundfärbung, die nur durch wenige schwarzbraune Flecken unterbrochen wird, dazu zählen die oberen Flügelspitzen, die Flecken in der Mitte der Oberflügel und die durchscheinende Reihe Augenflecken am Rand des Unterflügels.
M. polyphemus kommt in Mittelamerika vor. Die südliche Verbreitungsgrenze ist Costa Rica, die nördliche Mexiko.
Die Raupen fressen Pflanzen aus der Gattung Inga und Paullinia pinnata.

Morpho polyphemus, the white morpho or Polyphemus white morpho, is a white butterfly of Mexico and Central America, ranging as far south as Costa Rica. As suggested by its name, this is one of the relatively few Morphos that is white rather than blue. Some authorities include M. luna, which is also white, as a subspecies of M. polyphemus.
Both the upper and lower wings are bright white, with some small light brown markings. There is a row of small eyespots on the underside of the hindwings.
The caterpillar has been known to eat Paullinia pinnata (family Sapindaceae) and Inga (family Fabaceae).
The species epithet is derived from Polyphemus, a character in Greek mythology, from the small eyespots on the wing. Polyphemus was the one-eyed son of Poseidon and Thoosa.

"M. polyphemus Db. & Hew. (68c) differs from its Brazilian relatives in the chalky white upper surface of both wings with delicate mother-of-pearl gloss, and also in the projecting apex of the forewing and the sharp teeth of the hindwing. On the upper surface the black distal bordering is absent and the discocellular shows only a quite narrow stripe. The ocelli [eyespots] of the forewing are larger than in Morpho catenarius|catenarius, those of the wing more distinctly white-centred. As Morpho luna|luna Butler has described an aberration from Mexico with the black spots on both wings unusually well developed. The flight of polyphemus is extremely rapid and irregular, and according to Godman and Salvin the species ascends in Guatemala to 4000 ft. [1200 m] and is often met with near the ground in villages or also high up round the tops of trees in the timber-forest. Distributed from Mexico to Guatemala and Nicaragua, occasionally also occurring in Panama."

De vleugels van deze vlinder zijn opvallend wit in plaats van glanzend blauw.
De soort komt voor van Costa Rica tot Mexico. Een enkele keer wordt een zwervend exemplaar gezien in de staat Arizona van de Verenigde Staten. De habitat bestaat uit bos.
De waardplanten zijn Paullinia pinata en soorten van het geslacht Inga. Eitjes worden één voor één op de waardplant gelegd. De imagines leven van rottend fruit.

Este pode chegar a uma envergadura de até 12 centímetros.[8]
Adrian Hoskins cita que a maioria das espécies de Morpho passa as manhãs patrulhando trilhas ao longo dos cursos de córregos e rios. Nas tardes quentes e ensolaradas, às vezes, podem ser encontradas absorvendo a umidade da areia, visitando seiva a correr de troncos ou alimentando-se de frutos em fermentação.[20] No México, M. polyphemus voa de maio a novembro, habitando florestas tropicais de encosta com uma estação seca distinta.[5]
