Parnassius delphius, the banded Apollo, is a high-altitude butterfly which is found in Central Asia. It is a member of the genus Parnassius of the swallowtail family, Papilionidae.
Note: The wing pattern in Parnassius species is inconsistent and the very many subspecies and forms make identification problematic and uncertain. Structural characters derived from the genitalia, wing venation, sphragis and foretibial epiphysis are more, but not entirely reliable. The description given here is a guide only. Discal markings dull, submarginal band of forewing distinct, hindmarginal spot absent as a rule; ocelli of hindwing bright carmine, hindmarginal spots black, blackish hindmarginal area broad, two bluish-black anal spots, a faint submarginal and narrow marginal band.[2]
Northern Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
Widely distributed. Locally common, generally rare. Not known to be threatened. Requires further research. Protected by law in India. Featured in erstwhile USSR Red Data Book as vulnerable.
There are up to 44 subspecies.[3]

Parnassius delphius est un papillon au corps poilu, blanc veiné de gris et marqué de gris de façon plus ou moins importante suivant la température et l'humidité durant le stade de chrysalide. Le bord externe est gris avec une ligne submarginale de chevrons blancs. Les ailes postérieures présente une base presque noire, une bande gris très foncé le long du bord interne et deux taches rouge cernées de noir.
Parnassius delphius vole en juin et juillet[3].
Les plantes hôtes de sa chenille sont Cysticorydalis fedtschenkoana et Corydalis onobrychis[1].
Parnassius delphius est présent au Kazakhstan, au Kirghizistan, Pakistan, en Afghanistan et dans le nord de l'Inde, au Tibet et dans l'ouest de la Chine[1],[2].
Parnassius delphius réside en haute montagne au-dessus de 3 000 m[3].

Аполлон дельфийский[1] или Дельфиус[2] (лат. Parnassius delphius) — дневная бабочка семейства Парусники (Papilionidae).
Вид был описан энтомологом Эдуардом Эверсманом в 1843 году. По традиции, давая видовое название виду он использовал мифологический сюжет — в честь древнего города Дельфы, в котором в честь дельфийского оракула у подножия Парнаса был построен храм со статуей Аполлона[1].
Размах крыльев 60—63 мм[1]. Длина переднего крыла 26—34 мм[2]. Фон крыльев белого цвета. Внешний край передних крыльев полупрозрачный, изнутри ограниченный рядом светлых пятен и относительно широкой черноватой поперечной перевязью. За ней находится темная, изогнутая, не всегда полная перевязь. В середине и в конце срединной ячейки находится по поперечному пятну чёрного цвета. Внешний край задних крыльев относительно полупрозрачный, в нижнем углу находится 2 глазка. За наружным концом срединной ячейки над ним и на переднем крае находится по одному красному глазку с чёрной каймой. Прикорневая часть заднего крыла, срединная ячейка и внутренний край крыла сильно затемнены[2].
В году развивается одно поколение.
Встречается в Центральной Азии: Северный Пакистан, Афганистан, Таджикистан, Кыргызстан, Узбекистан, Казахстан, Гималаи, Тибет и Бутан. Образует свыше 40 подвидов.
