This organism lives in the micronucleus of P. caudatum. Two forms are seen: a short, spindle-shaped, reproductive form, about 0.8 um in diameter and 1.5-2.0 um long, and a long, spiral-shaped infectious form that has tapered ends and is 7-15 um long.Since it can harm its host cell it might be more properly considered a true parasite.
