Description of Dylakosoma symbionticum ( anglais )

fourni par BioPedia
Gliding cell, outline elliptical-ovoid, dorsally more convex than ventrally, anterior end of cell slightly oblique, posterior end of cell broad rounded. About 20 microns long and 10 microns wide. The anterior margin of the cell is broad and slightly truncate. The flagellar pocket is located in the first quarter in the middle of cell, contractile vacuole not observed. A spherical nucleus is situated slightly laterally in the posterior end of cell. The flagellum is about 0.5 CL. The pellicle is thickly covered with a single layer of rod-like attached bacteria 1.5- 4.0 microns long and 1.5 microns wide. The bacteria contain small spherical bodies suggesting that they are sulphur bacteria. Cells glide very slowly.
