Blindia campylopodioides Dixon & Badhwar 1938

Plants very slender, soft tufted, to 1.0 cm high, yellowish brown, sometimes dark at base, somewhat shiny. Stems sub-erect, irregularly branched; epidermal cells large, thin-walled; central strand absent. Leaves erect or slightly falcate, fragile, 1–2 mm long, leaf base slightly wider and convolute, gradually narrowed to a fine, somewhat denticulate subula; margins entire, slightly incurved; costa single, ca. 35–45 µm wide at base, somewhat filling with subula and long excurrent; upper cells short-rectangular, 8–15 µm × 6–8 µm; basal cells oblong-rectangular, 9–25 µm × 6–11 µm, thick-walled; alar cells inflated, 10–36 µm × 10–16 µm, hyaline or yellowish brown. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves larger than upper leaves, sheathing at base, abruptly narrowed to a long subula. Setae 2–3 mm long, cygneous when wet, erect and twisted when dry; capsules ovoid, neck short, stomata present; opercula obliquely rostrate; annuli absent; peristome teeth inserted below the mouth, lanceolate. Spores small, 9–12 µm in diameter.

Distribution: China, India, and Pakistan.

Habitat: on soil over rock or in crevices of cliffs.
