Blastocladia gracilis Kanouse, Am. Jour. Bot. 14: 300. 1927
Blastocladia ramose var. luxurians Kanouse, Papers Mich. Acad. 5: 113. 1926.
Plant-body slender, cylindric, with few branches, 600-850 m high; rhizoids scanty; sterile filaments lacking; cell-wall and protoplasm hyaline; sporangia sympodially arranged, cylindric, 20-30 by 84-180 m; resting bodies borne like the sporangia, subglobose to oval, 28-36 by 5060 n, the thick wall regularly pitted.
Type locality: Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Habitat: On submerged decaying apples and rose fruits in stagnant lake water.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
