Mimosa purpurascens B. L. Robinson, Proc. Am. Acad. 33: 317. 1898.
A shrub, the twigs puberulent, prickly. Pinnae 2-5 pairs; leaflets 3-6 pairs, oblong, 4-6 mm. long, about twice as long as wide, rounded or apiculate, puberulent; spikes 3-5 cm. long; flowers puberulent, purplish; legume linear-oblong, 3-5 cm. long, 5-6 mm. wide, tomentulose, 5-S-jointed; stamens twice as many as the corolla-lobes.
Type locality: La Paz. Lower California. Distribution: Lower California.
