Ixia maculata is a delightful South African cormous plant. In the flower u can see only 3 anthers - typical for all members of the iris plant family.

This bulb was seen at the Silvermine Nature Reserve, on wet rocky area.

This is one of the most beautiful South african Cape bulbs. The tiny bulb produces tall delicate stem with many starry flwoers. The flower colour is unbelivable. The plant bloomed in the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens.

Its amazing how these flwoers are borne on such a slender thread-like stem.
