Stems erect, 3-12 dm. tall, sparingly pubescent with scattered spreading hairs, arising from stout horizontal rootstocks ; leaflets bright-green except the brown margin, the blades 25-40 mm. broad, usually glabrous except for the ciliate margins and for some scattered hairs about the veins beneath ; peduncles longer than the petioles ; pedicels slightly villous and sometimes partially strigillose, not refracted in fruit; sepals herbaceous, 4.5-6 mm. long at maturity ; petals deep-3'ellow, 13-18 mm long ; longer filaments pubescent ; capsules columnar, stout, 7-10 mm. long, sparingly pubescent, rather abruptly narrowed at the apex.
Type locality': Wysox, Pennsylvania.
Distribution : Pennsylvania to Indiana, Georgia, and Alabama.

Oxalis grandis, commonly known as great yellow woodsorrel or large yellow wood sorrel, is an annual plant and herb in the woodsorrel family. It is native to the eastern United States from Georgia north to Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, west as far as Louisiana. It blooms from May to June with yellow flowers and grows in sandy woods or alluvial soils.
