A densely leafy shrub with pubescent twigs and foliage ; leaves opposite ; leaflets 511, petioled, leathery, ovate or rhombic-ovate, 1.5-3 cm. long, 7-20 mm. broad, obtuse or retuse at the apex, cuneateat the base, crenate or entire, dark-green, lustrous and pubescent with scattered hairs or glabrous above, paler and tomentulose beneath, petioluled ; panicles lateral in the axils of the upper leaves ; calyx tomentulose ; petals obovate or obovate-cuneate, 2.5-3 mm. long, 1.5-2 mm. broad; anthers ovate or orbicular; ovary ovoid, pilose, stigma capitate, sessile ; drupe obovoid or ellipsoid, 10-12 mm. long, 7-8 mm. broad, sparingly pubescent or glabrous.
Type locality : Limestone ledges, mountains near Monterey, Nuevo Leon. Distribution: Northeastern Mexico and adjacent Texas.
