fourni par BioPedia
Colpodid ciliate, size150-200 x 120-170 microns. Outline semicircular to broadly oval, left margin (ventral side) almost flat, right (dorsal side) convex, anterior and posterior end broadly rounded. Flattened about 2:1, right side flat, left rather regularly convex; no pronounced postoral sack. Macronucleus spherical to slightly ellipsoid, usually in posterior half of body; nucleolus reticulate. Approximately 6 micronuclei 3 x 4 microns in size attached to macronucleus. Contractile vacuole at posterior end, excretory pore on left side fairly distant from postetior pole, 4-6 microns in diameter. Cortex rigid, contains innumerable evenly distributed rods (mucocysts?) about 2-3 x 1 microns. Cytoplasm in well-nourished specimens often with large and small food vacuoles containing ciliates (Colpoda, Drepanomonas, hypotrichs), rarely fungal spores. Movement moderately rapid, usually rotates on slide. Cilia about 10 microns long. Approximately 100 somatic kineties which extend in acute angles from long, straight preoral suture. Contour of vestibulum approximately semicircular. Left oral polykinetid crescent-shaped, comprising about 50 kineties. 10-15 vestibular kineties.
