Forewing 30.5 mm. Front of head brown, with white tuft anterior to each antennal base; antennal scape reddish orange, with dorsal greyish white patch; vertex brown based, greyish white, with posteromedial black spot. Tegulae greyish white, with central black spot. Patagia greyish white at anterior margin, followed by very dark brown band; rest greyish white with narrow, longitudinal, dark brown line, edged medially with reddish orange. Rest of thorax greyish white, edged posteriorly with reddish orange, with black spot anteriorly and another posteriorly. Forewings greyish white and dark yellowish brown; some reddish orange scales at base of wing and on costa at end of antemedial, postmedial, and subterminal fasciae. Hindwing translucent orange-grey, changing to brownish orange distally and anally. Ground color of dorsal surface of abdomen reddish orange; segments 2–7 with dark greyish brown anteromedial and lateral patches, edged with yellow. Ventral surface of abdomen pale yellow medially, becoming pinkish laterally and posteriorly on each segment and, except for segment 7, with dark greyish brown markings confluent with lateral patches of dorsum; segment 7 with medial greyish brown longitudinal line. Longitudinal lateral ridge with fine covering of yellowish brown scales except for posterior process, which is devoid of scales.
Described from one male and one female from Cofre de Perote, Mexico. Both lectotype and paralectotype are labeled “Las Vigas,” a town to the north of Perote peak. The lectotype alone is labeled “type.”
