Bunchosia macrophylla Rose ; Donn. Smith, in Pittier,
Prim. Fl. Costar. 2 : 64. 1898. Leaf-blades oblong to oval or oblong-elliptic, or sometimes oblong-ovate, 11-38 cm. long, obtuse or short-acuminate, veiny, dark-green and somewhat pubescent above, prominently veined and copiously pubescent beneath, usually rounded at the base, very shortpetioled ; pedicels copiously pubescent ; sepals ovate to oblong-ovate, 5-7 mm. long, the glands fully one half the length of the sepal-body ; larger petals 9-10 mm. long, the blades suborbicular, lacerate-denticulate ; ovary and style pubescent; drupes not seen.
Type locality : Talamanca, Costa Rica. Distribution : Costa Rica.
