North Island, off Gannet Island, west coast, 30 fathoms. Castlecliff, Wanganui, upper Pleistocene (type locality). South Island, Negara Island, 5 fathoms, Queen Charlotte Sound. Tahunanui Beach, Nelson.
A small but moderately solid shell, with subparallel dorsal and ventral margins, the beaks near to the posterior end, and there is a minute crescentic lithodesma, only 1.2 mm. in a shell 15 mm. in length. Colour dull white, under a pale yellowish periostracum, usually mostly worn off. This is a new record for the New Zealand Recent fauna.
Height 13-17 mm., length 21.0-25.75 mm., inflation ca 7.75 mm.”

Thracia vegrandis is een tweekleppigensoort uit de familie van de Thraciidae.[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1919 door P. Marshall & Murdoch.
