Trichilia albiflora C. DC. Smithson. Misc. Coll 68 6 : 7. 1917.
A tree, with dark-brown twigs; leaves 1.5-3 dm. or more long; leaflets 11-17, oblongelliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, 3.8-8 cm. long, 1.5-2.6 mm. broad, mostly opposite, acuminate to long-acuminate at the apex, inequilateral and acute at the base, pilose on both sides; petioles and rachis pilose at least above, the petiolules 2-3 mm. long; panicles long-peduncled, 1.5-3 dm. long, the branches spreading, pilose; pedicels about 1 mm. long, pilose; calyx 5-lobed, the lobes broadly ovate, ciliate, rounded at the apex; petals 5, oblong-elliptic, 5.5 mm. long, 1.5 mm. broad, glabrous; stamens 10, the filaments pilose, united below the middle, the anthers elliptic, about 1 mm. long; ovary ellipsoid, densely pilose; style 1.5 mm. long, glabrous; stigma capitate. Type locality: Ojos de Agua, Alajucla, Costa Rica. Distribution: Costa Rica.

A shrub 2 m. tall, the twigs minutely puberulous; leaves 3-3.9 dm. long, petioled; leaflets 11 or 13, opposite or alternate, the lower ones ovate, 2.5-4.5 cm. long, 2-3 cm. broad, the upper leaflets more or less obliquely lanceolate, 8-10 cm. long, 2.5-3.4 cm. broad, all short-petioluled and often inequilateral and acute or rounded at the base, long-acuminate at the apex, appressedpilose on both sides, membranaceous, minutely pellucid-punctate, the margin ciliate; petiolules and rachis terete, pilose; panicle 2.6 dm. long, long-peduncled; flowers white, the pedicels 1—1.5 mm. long; calyx minutely puberulous on the outside, repand-denticulate.the teeth obtuse; petals elliptic-oblong, 4-5 mm. long, 1.5 mm. broad, obtuse at the apex, glabrous; staminal tube subcampanulate, united to about the middle, the lobes hirsute within and on the margin; anthers ovate, acute, glabrous, inserted between the teeth of the lobes; filaments very short; ovary ellipsoid, appressed-hirsute, attenuate into a style of the same length.
Type locality: El Tibor [Guerrero]. Distribution: Mexico.

A tree, with glabrous or nearly glabrous branches; leaves about 4 dm. long, the petioles and rachis hirsutulous; leaflets 11, opposite or subopposite, ovate-lanceolate to ovate, 8-10.5 cm. long, 3-5 cm. broad, very inequilaterally rounded at the base, acuminate at the apex, hirsutulous above, velvety-pubescent beneath, the veins hirsutulous, minutely pellucid-dotted, petioluled, the petiolules 3-6 mm. long; panicle shorter than the leaves, the peduncle 10-14.5 cm. long, hirsutulous; bracts of the inflorescence linear, hirsutulous, about 1-1.5 mm. long; flowers pedicelled; calyx 5-toothed, hirsutulous on the outside, the teeth ovate to ovate-oval, subacute or rounded at the apex; petals oblong to elliptic, about 4 mm. long, 1.5-2 mm. broad, subacute at the apex, glabrous; staminal tube lobed to below the middle, the lobes glabrous or nearly so on the back, hirsutulous within; anthers glabrous; ovary ellipsoid or ovoidellipsoid, hirsutulous; style glabrous.
Typic locality : Nicoya, Costa Rica. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

A tree with glabrous, brownish branches; leaves odd-pinnate, 2-3 dm. long, the petioles and rachis terete or nearly so, hirsute; leaflets 9-13, lanceolate to ovate or somewhat oblanceolate, 3-7 cm. long, 2-3 cm. broad, opposite or subopposite, petioluled, acute to acuminate at the apex, the tip more or less rounded, loosely hirsute to nearly glabrous above, hirsute beneath especially on the veins, rather obscurely pellucid-dotted; inflorescence axillary, raceme-like, 7-15 cm. long, glabrous in age; capsule hirsute, wrinkled, the valves ovate to suborbicular, 1-1.2 cm. long, 9-15 mm. broad; seeds subglobose or globose-ovoid, 6-7 mm. long, about 6 mm. broad.
Type locality: Colima. Distribution: Mexico.
