體圓而延長，尾部則是側扁。在鰓蓋骨的後面有一尖銳的硬棘，其前鰓蓋骨的下方不具小棘。背鰭和臀鰭非常的長，一直延伸至尾鰭部位，相癒合在一起，背鰭
鰭條數96-103，臀鰭鰭條數79-86；腹鰭位於喉部，已經退化成2條延長絲狀，長度延伸超過肛門；尾鰭鰭條數8。
體呈黃褐色。背鰭位於肛門的相對位置有1枚黑斑。臀鰭則無，另外背鰭＆臀鰭末端的邊緣顏色為深黑色。

Vissen Neobythites longipes is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van naaldvissen (Ophidiidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1913 door Smith & Radcliffe.
