Oceanodromous. Migrating within oceans typically between spawning and different feeding areas, as tunas do. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.

Oceanic (Ref. 4066). Found in the upper 50-100 m south of Antarctic Polar Front at night, but deeper (500-600 m) north of Antarctic Polar Front and at depths greater than 1,000 m at Suntropical Convergence. Feeds mainly on copepods, euphausiids and amphipods.

Krefftichthys anderssoni is a species of lanternfish found circumglobally in the southern oceans. This species grows to a length of 7.1 centimetres (2.8 in) SL.
