Over the past couple of years, Spotted Eagle Rays have been at the top of my 'really like to see' today list. I've seen plenty at a distance, and have some crappy shots to show for it, but I haven't been able to get some decent close-ups. Luckily, we came across some out on Looe Key, off Bahia Honda one day and finally, on the last day, in the last few minutes of our most recent trip, I spotted this giant gliding over the reef, and was able to tag along and get in close. These rays usually skim by pretty quick, even when they aren't threatened, but this one didn't seem concerned with me at all, and although it was hard to keep up with, it frequently paused and sifted through the sand as it cruised in and out over the first reef line. Not a bad way to go out...Lauderdale by the Sea, Broward County, Florida, U.S.A.SeaLife DC1400Explore: Jul 17, 2014 #1
