All marginal seas of the Arctic Ocean
Neritic species, characteristic of slightly freshened surface waters
Female:
The abdomen is short, its length is about 4 times smaller than length of cephalothorax. Posterior corners of the last thoracic segment are made into sharp points. A1 is 24-segmented and reaches the end of the last thoracic segment; its distal end carries long chaetae. The exopodite of A2 is somewhat longer than the endopodite. The dorsal surface of P4 carries small spines on the first segment of the basipodite and the second and third segments of both branches. The surface of the first segment of the basipodite also carries 5 larger spines.
Male:
The abdomen is 3 times shorter than the cephalothorax. The posterior corners of the last thoracic segment sometimes, but not always, carries small spines. Spines are absent on the surface of the swimming appendages. A1 22-segmented. The right P5 is four-segmented, its exopodite is armed with a very long apical chaeta. The endopodite of the same leg is two-segmented, is equal in length to half of the first segment of the exopodite. The left P5 is also four-segmented with a very short one-segmented endopodite and a long basipodite.
Female: 1,84-2,50 mm
Male: 1,84-2,40 mm
