Ground colour whitish. Anterior part of carapace pink with reddish spots on hepatic and mesogastric areas. Transverse red band, interrupted medially, crossing posterior half of carapace. Second to fourth abdominal tergites and telson whitish. Tip of rostrum red. Chelipeds with red bands on distal part or carpus and palm; median red band on fingers. Walking legs with whitish and pinkish bands.

Dorsal surface of carapace with numerous small spines, with moderately dense striae; anterolateral spine not reaching the level of the sinus between rostral and supraocular spines. Antennular basal article with distomesial spine shorter than distolateral spine. Fourth sternite contiguous with median part of third sternite. Cheliped fingers less than 2 times as long as palm. Pereopods 2-4 propodi extensor margin with some proximal spines only.

Babamunida hystrix is a species of squat lobster in the family Munididae.[1][2][3] It is found off of French Polynesia and the Tuamotu Islands, at depths between about 100 and 290 metres (330 and 950 ft).[4]
