Annual, 5-25 cm tall, erect, simple or sometimes branched from the base, glabrous, often pale violet in appearance. Basal leaves obovate, cuneate at the base, 1.5-3 cm long, 0.6-1.5 cm broad, ± entire with rounded apex; cauline leaves distant, few, ovate-cordate, amplexicaul, 1-3 cm long, 0.5-2 cm broad; all leaves entire, fleshy, glabrous. Racemes 3-15-flowered, up to 10 cm long in fruit, ebracteate. Flowers small, c. 4 mm across, yellow; pedicel up to 4 mm long in fruit, thickened. Sepals ± equal, c. 2 mm long, 1 mm broad. Petals c. 5 mm long, 2 mm broad, oblong, cuneate below, often dark-veined. Stamens c. 1.5 : 2.5 mm long; anthers c. 0.5 mm long. Siliquae 20-40 mm long, 1.5 mm broad, linear, subterete, with a mid-vein and several indistinct parallel veins; beak very short, c. 1 mm long, with short punctiform stigma; septum membranous , not veined; seeds 6-10 in each locule, c. 1 mm long, pale brown.
