Michener (1968) describes one nest collected from west Cameroon, bambui, near Bamenda, on the cameroon highlands (4500 feet altitude). A female guarded the nest entrance; the entrance was not ever closed. The nest consisted of a 46 cm long burrow (39 cm to first cell) with cells oriented vertically and connected to the main burrow by lateral burrows. The nest contained five active brood cells. Five adult females were in the nest. Two females were mated, had developed ovaries, and worn wings and body. Two other females were mated but unworn and without developed ovaries. The fifth female was unmated with much fat and undeveloped ovaries. The first two females may have been egg layers, while the second two were recently mated daughters who returned to the nest. The fifth female was likely an adult who recently emerged from her brood cell. Michener (1968) speculates that this species may be semi-social, but that such conclusions are at best speculative as they are based on only one nest.
