Euphyes bayensis is a year-round resident in northern California (Scott 1986). Habitats are open woodland, sage brush and chapparal. Host plants are herbaceous or shrubs restricted to species Eriogonum nudum (Polygonaceae). Eggs are laid on the host plant singly. Individuals overwinter as pupae, mostly in litter. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time mostly June 1-June 30 (Scott 1986).
