Found on stipe of brown alga, depth 18 m. These snails graze on kelp and its encrusting organisms. Their sexual products are discharged into the sea where fertilization takes place. The resulting larvae metamorphose into adult snails.
This top snail was photographed on a blade of giant kelp, a common site for the species. As an omnivore it is known to feed on the kelp, but if also could have been feeding on the adjacent bryozoan. Note that it is covered with barnacles.
