Die Bastertambotie (Cleistanthus schlechteri) is 'n boom inheems aan Suid-Afrika. Dit kom in Suid-Afrika slegs voor in die Nwambiya-sandveld suid van Pafuri tot by die Mosambiekgrens van die Krugerwildtuin, maar word ook in Oos-Afrika tot in Kenia aangetref.[1] Dit behoort tot die familie Phyllanthaceae.
Dit is 'n klein (6 m) bladwisselende boom met 'n enkele of spruitende hoofstam, taamlik regop met 'n minimaal verspreide kroon. Die boom het heelwat takke en kleiner takkies. Die stam is 'n vaal-geelgrys en die bas kraak in klein, min-of-meer reghoekige blokkies.
Eenvoudig, gedra op baie kort, knoestige, laterale takkies. Blare baie klein, ovaal tot eierrond, glad, kaal, donkergroen en blink aan die bokant.
Blomme word deur albei geslagte gedra op aparte bome in klein trosse, geelgroen tot liggroen; (Oktober/November).
Kapsules van 1,0 x 0,8 cm, kaal en blink; bruin tot donkerbruin wanneer dit ryp is (Januarie/Februarie).

Small tree (up to 6 m), deciduous, multi or single stemmed, fairly upright and minimally spreading crown. Many twigs and branches, trunks pale buff-grey, bark cracks into small, flat, more or less rectangular blocks.[5]
Simple, borne on very short, gnarled, lateral twigs. Very small, oval to obovate, smooth, glabrous, marginally entire, dark green and glossy above.[5]
Both the sexes are borne on separate trees in small bunches, yellow-green to pale green; (October/November).[5]
Capsules 10 x 8 mm, glabrous and glossy; brown to dark-brown when ripe (January/February).[5]
