Young branches more or less compressed, pubescent with short spreading hairs, the internodes 1-3 cm. long; stipules triangular, narrowly acuminate, 3 mm. long; petioles 3-4 mm. long; leaf-blades ovate or ovate-elliptic, 2-3.5 cm. long, 1.3-2.3 cm. wide, coriaceous, mucronatepungent, obtuse or rounded at the base, glabrous, lustrous and somewhat glaucescent above, the nerves impressed, yellowish-brown beneath, the lateral nerves 7 or 8 on each side, prominent, the lowest subhorizontal, the others ascending at an angle of 55-65 degrees, the veins irregularly reticulate, prominent, the margin recurved and usually scaberulous; inflorescences borne in the upper leaf-axils, capitate, 5-9-flowered, the peduncles 5-15 mm. long, pilose, the bracts lanceolate, 2 mm. long; calyx obsoletely bilobate, 2 mm. long; corolla 18 mm. long, the tube retrorsely strigose-sericeous, the 6 lobes oval, rounded at the apex, one fourth as long as the tube; anthers 2.7 mm. long; style 9 mm. long, short-pilose; ovary 3-5-celled.
Type locality: Rocky hills, Arroyo Bermejo, near Bayaguana, Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
