Perennial herb, growing from small corms arising from a rhizomatous base. The plant smells strongly of garlic. Leaves linear, up to 38 cm. Inflorescence 4-10-flowered. Flowers greenish-white with a fleshy, cylindric, orange-red corona. This species is very similar to T. alliacea.

Tulbaghia leucantha, the mountain wild garlic, is a species of flowering plant in the family Amaryllidaceae, widely distributed in southern Africa. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit as an ornamental.
