Description of Acrasis ( anglais )

fourni par BioPedia
COmmon species, Acrasis rosea Olive & Stoianovitch is easily isolated from dead plant inflorescences, particularly corn tassles, and feeds readily on the pink yeast, Rhodotorula. It forms sorocarps that are bright pink and dusty-appearing in culture. Microcysts are formed on the substratum and sorocarps are formed that can be up to 800 µm in height. The sorocarps have stalk cells that are viable at maturity and will germinate when placed on fresh agar with Rhodotorula cells. The spores are round and have hila where they contact each other. Type species: Acrasis granulata van Tieghem from spent beer yeast.
