General Description

Colonies. With a daily growth rate of 4-5 mm, with a lanose, white or pale aerial mycelium and usually with a yellow exudate. Ascomata. Maturing within 18-20 days, greenish in reflected light, dark in age, superficial, spherical or ovate, ostiolate, 90-230 μm, with a dark brown or black wall of angular, flattened, 6-10 μm cells; ascomatal hairs delicate, flexuous or undulate, often branched and with tapering tips, punctulate or verrucose, pale brown, 1.5-2 μm broad near the base. Asci. Fasciculate: narrow cylindrical, with short stalks, rather persistent, 52-70 × 7-9 μm, 8-spored with ascospores arranged in a single row. Ascospores. Inequilaterally ovate or clavate, bilaterally flattened, dark greenish brown when mature, 9-11 × 7-8 × 6-7 μm, at the most attenuated end with a subapical or nearly apical germ pore. Paraphyses. Not observed.
