Hypostomus roseopunctatus appears in the aquarium trade, where it is typically referred to either as the rose-spotted pleco[3] or by its associated L-number, which is L-311, although that identifier may also be used to refer to a similar, likely undescribed species.[4][5]

Hypostomus roseopunctatus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de harnasmeervallen (Loricariidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1990 door Reis, Weber & Malabarba.
