Junior synonym of Kathablepharis, taxa described under the name of L. marina are common members of the marine plankton, flagella inserting subapically, usually at the anterior end of a furrow with one or two longitudinal, parallel rows of few or several extrusomes. Two more types of scattered peripheral extrusomes. Body circular in cross-section. With a microtubule-lined ingestion apparatus opening at the apex of the cell.
