An apparently unarmed shrub with densely leafy, glandular twigs, attaining a height of about 3 m.; bark of the old branches somewhat corky ; young twigs, rachis of the leaves and branches of the inflorescence stellate-pulverulent ; leaves usually odd-pinnate, 5-7 cm. long, the petiole 1 cm. long; leaflets 5-10, opposite, oblong to elliptic or ovate-oblong, 2-2.7 cm. long, 0.9-1.5 cm. broad, rounded and emarginate at the apex, rounded and subequilateral at the base, sessile, coriaceous, entire or obscurely crenulate, the margin slightly revolute, above lustrous, obsoletely veined and obsoletely glandulose-punctate, beneath much paler, glabrous, the lateral nerves rather indistinct and more or less reticulate ; glands crowded, conspicuous, brown ; petioles and rachis more or less grooved ; inflorescence axillary and terminal, simple, shorter than the leaves ; flowers yellowish-green ; sepals 5; follicles solitary, very short-stipitate, oblique, nearly hemispheric, smooth, 6 mm. long.
Type locality : District of Bahia Honda, Pinar del Rio, Cuba. Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
