Leptasea vespertina Small, sp. nov
Leaves of the caudices 4-11 mm. long, parchment-like, crowded, more or less spreading, the blades oblong to oblong-cuneate, spine-tipped, ciliate; flower-stalks 5.5-14 cm. tall, finely glandular-pubescent, bearing few leaves, which are smaller than those of the caudices ; sepals ovate, 2-3 mm. long, obtuse, often glandularciliate ; petals white and often yellowspotted, oval to oval-ovate, 4.5-5.5 mm. long, clawless; filaments subulate; follicles 7-10 mm. long.
Type collected on Baldy Peak, Chehalis County, Washington, July 24, 1897, by Frank H. ^^Distribution : Alaska and the adjacent islands, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon.
