Lecokia is a monotypic genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Apiaceae.[2] It just contains one species, Lecokia cretica (Lam.) DC. [1]

It is native to Cyprus, the East Aegean Islands, Iran, Crete, Lebanon, Palestine, South Caucasus (of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan), Syria, and Turkey.[1]

The genus name of Lecokia is in honour of Henri Lecoq (1802–1871), a French botanist.[3] The genus has 2 known synonyms of Apolgusa Raf. and Conilaria Raf.[2]

The Latin specific epithet of cretica means "coming from Crete, where the plant was found.[4] Both the genus and the species were first described and published in Coll. Mém. Vol.5 on page 67 in 1829.[1]

Lecokia es un género monotípico de planta herbácea perteneciente a la familia Apiaceae.[1]​ Su única especie: Lecokia cretica, es originaria de Chipre.

Descripción

Son hierbas perennifolias que alcanzan un tamaño de 60-100 cm de altura. Las hojas inferiores ampliamente triangulares en el margen, con lóbulos alargados, márgenes profundamente dentados o lobulados. Las flores de color blanco, sépalos pequeños. Umbelas con 6-10 rayos y una sola bráctea o ninguna. Fruta de 10-20 mm ovadas-oblongas y algo comprimidas.[2]

Taxonomía

Lecokia cretica fue descrita por Augustin Pyrame de Candolle y publicado en Coll. Mém. 5: 67 1829.[3]
