Cochliopidae is a family of small freshwater snails with gills and an operculum, aquatic gastropod mollusks.
Paludestrina d'Orbigny, 1840 is an archaic synonym,[1] and has been placed on the Official Index of Rejected and Invalid Names by ICZN Opinion 2202.[2]
This family is in the superfamily Truncatelloidea and in the order Littorinimorpha (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005).
Cochliopidae snails are characterized by sharp, elongated spire-like structures, and can be found in rivers or brackish water.[1]

Cochliopidae es una familia de pequeños caracoles de agua dulce con branquias y opérculo.[1]
Anteriormente Cochliopinae era considerada como subfamilia de la gran familia Hydrobiidae pero el análisis filogenético estableció que Cochliopidae es una familia distinta.[2] Las investigaciones genéticas además precisaron y confirmaron la conformación de la subfamilia Cochliopinae, encuentran relaciones entre el género Antroselates antes considerado dentro de ella y la familia Pomatiopsidae, así como con el género Amnicola (familia Amnicolidae), pero sin que aún se defina si las actuales familias Pomatiopsidae y Amnicolidae deben integrarse con la familia Cochliopidae.[3]
