Stem stout, mostly 1-2.5 dm. tall, glabrous or nearly so; leaves thick, the blades ovate or ovate-lanceolate on the lower part of the stem, lanceolate above, the lower ones erose or undulate, the upper with scarious fimbriate margins, all mostly acute or acuminate, mostly 1-2 cm. long; spike, or raceme, erect, rather loosely flowered, the flowers erect or nearly so. the bracts similar to the upper leaves; sepals lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 8-9 mm. long in anthesis, erose-fimbriate, mostly acuminate, often caudate-tipped; petals narrowly elliptic or oblonglanceolate; capsules oblong-ovoid.

Stem rather slender or sometimes stout, 1-1.5 dm. tall, glabrous; leaves thickish, the blades lanceolate, or ovate-lanceolate at the base of the stem, acute or acuminate, laciniatetoothed, the edges often somewhat scarious, mostly 1-2 cm. long; spike, or raceme, rather closely flowered, the flowers nearly erect, the bracts similar to the upper leaves ; sepals oblonglanceolate or lanceolate, 7-9 mm. long in anthesis, erose-toothed or fimbriate, acute or slightly acuminate ; petals narrowly spatulate to almost oblong-spatulate, much longer than the sepals ; capsules ovoid.
Type locawty: Near the hot springs, Clackamas County, Oregon. Distribution: Oregon.

Stem stout, usually less than 1.5 dm. tall, glabrous or with scattered haks; leaves thick, the blades orbicular, broadly ovate or deltoid on the lower part of the stem, ovate to lanceolate above, all more or less erose, obtuse or acute, 1-2.5 cm. long, or smaller at the base of the stem; spike, or raceme, densely flowered, erect, the flowers often spreading, the bracts nearly or quite similar to the upper leaves; sepals ovate or oval, 5-7 mm. long in anthesis, erose-fimbriate. obtuse; petals oblong or oval, or slightly broader above or below the middle; capsules globoseovoid.
Type collected in high pine woods (2100 meters), canon above Martis Valley, Placer County, California, August 1896, C. F. Sonne (herb. N. Y. Bot. Card.). Distribution: Eastern California.

Pleuricospora fimbriolata ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Familie der Heidekrautgewächse (Ericaceae) und die einzige Art ihrer Gattung.
Beschreibung
Pleuricospora fimbriolata ist eine chlorophylllose, myko-heterotrophe krautige Pflanze. Ihr Wurzelsystem ist korallenförmig, die aus ihnen sprießende Spross- und Blütenstandsachse steht aufrecht und ist cremeweiß bis rötlich. Die Blätter sind einfach.
Der Blütenstand ist ein- bis mehrblütig, die röhrenförmigen Blüten sind in der Regel vierzählig. Kelchblätter sind vorhanden, die Kronblätter sind unverwachsen. Die Staubblätter sind ebenso lang wie die Krone, die Staubbeutel wenden sich nicht um. Der Griffel ist dauernd, die Narbe nur schwach erweitert.
Der Fruchtknoten weist parietale Plazentation auf. Die Frucht öffnet sich nicht, die Samen sind eiförmig und dickhäutig.
Die Chromosomenzahl beträgt 2n = 52.[1]
Verbreitung
Die Art findet sich im Westen Nordamerikas in British Columbia, Oregon, Washington und Kalifornien in Höhenlagen zwischen 150 und 2750 Metern.[1]

Art und Gattung wurden 1868 durch Asa Gray erstbeschrieben.

Descripción
Es una hierba perenne es micoheterótrofo, parasitando los hongos para obtener los nutrientes. Es de color amarillento crema o blanco, sin clorofila, con las puntas de las brácteas oscurecidas con la edad. Produce un pedúnculo carnoso sin tallo por encima de la hojarasca del suelo del bosque, llegando a no más de 10 a 12 centímetros de altura. Las hojas están reducidas a escamas o ausentes, ya que la planta no realiza la fotosíntesis. La parte aérea de la planta es esencialmente solo la inflorescencia, con flores blanquecinas cilíndricas que duran un corto tiempo. La flor tiene cuatro o cinco pétalos y cerca de ocho estambres en su garganta. Produce una baya carnosa menor un centímetro de ancho que contienen numerosas semillas, diminutas y pegajosas. Las semillas se dispersan cuando los pequeños mamíferos comen los frutos.[2]
Distribución y hábitat
Es nativa de los bosques de la costa oeste de América del Norte desde Columbia Británica a la bahía de San Francisco.
Taxonomía
Pleuricospora fimbriolata fue descrita por Asa Gray y publicado en Proceedings of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 7(2): 369–370. 1868.[3]
- Etimología
Pleuricospora: nombre genérico que deriva de la palabra griega pleurikos = "las partes, de los nervios", y spora o sporos = "semillas, esporas," por lo tanto alude a las "semillas al lado de las placentas parietales".[4]
fimbriolata: epíteto latín que significa "con flecos de pelos muy finos"[5]
