Amphidromous. Refers to fishes that regularly migrate between freshwater and the sea (in both directions), but not for the purpose of breeding, as in anadromous and catadromous species. Sub-division of diadromous. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.Characteristic elements in amphidromy are: reproduction in fresh water, passage to sea by newly hatched larvae, a period of feeding and growing at sea usually a few months long, return to fresh water of well-grown juveniles, a further period of feeding and growing in fresh water, followed by reproduction there (Ref. 82692).

分布於印度-西太平洋區，由東非到新幾內亞，北至日本。臺灣分布於各地河川下游的半淡鹹水的河口區中。

小型魚類，不具漁業價值。

第1背鰭：Ⅵ；第2背鰭：Ⅰ/ 10。臀鰭：Ⅰ/ 9；胸鰭：18。縱列鱗 37~39；橫列鱗 12~13；背鰭前鱗 34。體延長，側扁。背緣、腹緣微微隆起；尾柄較高。頭中大。吻部圓鈍。頰部有許多列細密的垂直感覺乳突。眼上側位。位於頭的前半部。口大，頗斜裂，口裂可達眼前緣的下方。上下頜均具有尖銳的大型犬齒。鰓裂中大。體被中型的櫛鱗，背前鱗列為較細小的圓鱗，腹部亦被鱗。第一背鰭的前方鰭棘約等長。第二背鰭及臀鰭的後方鰭條均較長，雄魚的鰭條末端可達尾鰭的基部。尾鰭圓形。體呈暗褐色，體背具5-6個深色斑駁，斑駁間具亮藍色斑；體側中央具5個黑斑，圍繞其周遭散布有青綠色的亮斑。胸鰭基部的上方有一暗斑。各鰭灰色；第二背鰭的上方具有一淡黃色的縱紋；腹鰭灰黑色；尾鰭基部具紅褐色點紋。(林上智、林沛立編寫 2012/10)

主要棲息於泥灘底質的河口或紅樹林區沿岸內灣的淺水區及潮地中活動。白天多躲藏在泥中的洞穴裡。攻擊性較強，肉食性魚類，以小型甲殼類、小魚為食物來源。

Acentrogobius viridipunctatus, or the Spotted green goby, is a species of goby found in brackish and salt water in the lower Chao Phraya River. It is the type species of the genus Acentrogobius.
