It is found in shallow weedy or sandy habitats at depths of from 1 to 3 m (3.3 to 9.8 ft). This species can reach a length of 4.5 cm (1.8 in) TL.[2]

Starksia fulva is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van slijmvissen (Labrisomidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1971 door Rosenblatt & Taylor.
De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2007.[1]
