Bodianus bathycapros is a species of wrasse native to tropical and warm temperate waters of the Pacific Ocean, particularly the Hawaiian Islands.^[2] It is restricted to deeper waters and has been observed from submersibles at depths of around 190 metres (620 ft). It is an oviparous species in which the male and female form distinct pairs when spawning.^[3]

Bodianus bathycapros Gomon, 2006 è un pesce di acqua salata appartenente alla famiglia Labridae^[2].

Habitat e distribuzione

Proviene dalle barriere coralline delle Hawaii, nell'oceano Pacifico^[3]. È una specie tipica delle acque profonde; infatti nuota a profondità che variano dai 165 ai 256 m^[1].

Descrizione

Presenta un corpo compresso lateralmente, alto e non troppo allungato, con la testa dal profilo appuntito e gli occhi piccoli. La livrea negli adulti è rosata con diverse macchie rosse, mentre le pinne sono gialle. Non supera i 45,6 cm^[3].

Riproduzione

È oviparo e la fecondazione è esterna. Non ci sono cure verso le uova^[4].

Conservazione

Questa specie viene classificata come "a rischio minimo" (LC) dalla lista rossa IUCN perché non sembra essere minacciata da particolari pericoli; è diffusa in alcune aree marine protette^[1].

Note

Bodianus bathycapros is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van lipvissen (Labridae).^[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 2006 door Gomon.

De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2008.^[1]

深普提魚，又稱深狐鯛，為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目隆頭魚亞目隆頭魚科的其中一種，分布於中太平洋區的夏威夷群島海域，棲息深度185-190公尺，體長可達45.6公分，棲息在深水礁石區，生活習性不明。
