體延長而略呈圓柱形。頭及眼中度大小；頭部無小棘列。前上頜骨短，其末端延伸至眼前緣，前上突起長而窄，其長約為眼徑之1/3到1/2；側突起寬而短；下頜各側之後部明顯高聳。兩頜齒細小，絨毛狀；口蓋骨及鋤骨均有齒。前鰓蓋骨後緣有缺刻。鰓耙長且細，等於或長於眼徑，第一鰓弓下枝鰓耙數21-25。體側具圓鱗，中央側列鱗數39-41。第一背鰭具棘V-VI；第二背鰭具I棘，8-10軟條；臀鰭具I棘,10-12軟條；胸鰭14-16軟條。肛門位於腹鰭末緣。體背部藍綠色而略透明，有時帶銀色光澤，腹部白色；體側具一銀色縱帶，約1.5個鱗片寬。各鰭透明，有時稍暗色或帶暗色緣。

Descripció
- Pot arribar a fer 10 cm de llargària màxima.
- 5-7 espines i 8-11 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 1 espina i 10-12 radis tous a l'anal.
- L'anus és situat entre els extrems de les aletes pèlviques, just per sota de l'origen de l'aleta dorsal.

Mandíbula inferior molt elevada a la zona posterior.[6][7]
Alimentació
Menja zooplàncton.[6]
Hàbitat
És un peix marí, pelàgic-nerític i de clima subtropical.[6]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba al Pacífic nord-occidental: les illes Ryukyu i Taiwan.[8][9][6][10]
Observacions
És inofensiu per als humans i sense sabor com a aliment.[6]
