Cerradomys és un gènere de rosegadors de la tribu dels orizominis que viu al cerrado, la caatinga i el Gran Chaco, des del centre del Brasil fins a l'est de Bolívia i el Paraguai. Anteriorment era considerat un subgènere d'Oryzomys, però el 2006 el grup fou descrit com a nou gènere.
El pelatge dorsal és marró i el ventral gris. Les orelles són petites i la cua és relativament llarga. Les potes posteriors tenen flocs de pèls a la base de les urpes.

Its sister group may be a clade of oryzomyines living in open or aquatic habitats, comprising, among others, Aegialomys, Nectomys and Sigmodontomys. Sooretamys angouya, also formerly in Oryzomys, is another relative; it has been placed in the same group as the species of Cerradomys in the past. The generic name Cerradomys is a compound of the word "Cerrado" and the Ancient Greek μῦς mys "mouse" and therefore means "Cerrado mouse".
The dorsal pelage is brownish, the ventral pelage, greyish. It has small ears and a relatively long tail. There are crowns of hair on the hindfeet at the bases of the claws.
In addition to its external classification, the internal classification of the group is also subject to change. Until 2002, all members of the group were placed in a single species, then called Oryzomys subflavus, but since then, eight new species have been described, often on the basis of karyotypic differences, but two of these later turned out to represent the same species.

Al genere Cerradomys appartengono roditori di piccole e medie dimensioni, con lunghezza della testa e del corpo tra 116 e 185 mm, la lunghezza della coda tra 130 e 215 mm e un peso fino a 150 g.[1]
Il cranio presenta un rostro lungo ed affusolato, la regione inter-orbitale converge anteriormente, le creste sopra-orbitali sono ben sviluppate. La scatola cranica è allungata ed è provvista di una cresta sagittale ben sviluppata. I fori palatali sono lunghi.

Le vibrisse sono corte. Le orecchie sono relativamente corte. Le zampe posteriori sono lunghe e sottili ed hanno dei ciuffi ben sviluppati alla base degli artigli. La coda è più lunga della testa e del corpo ed è leggermente più chiara nella parte ventrale. Le femmine hanno un paio di mammelle pettorali, uno post-ascellare, uno addominale ed uno inguinale.
Il genere è diffuso nell'America meridionale, dal Brasile all'Argentina settentrionale.
