Psychonotis

Psychonotis is a genus of butterflies in the family Lycaenidae. The species of this genus are found in the Australasian realm.

Psychonotis est un genre de lépidoptères (papillons) de la famille des Lycaenidae et de la sous-famille des Polyommatinae.

Taxonomie

Le genre Psychonotis a été décrit par l'entomologiste néerlandais Lambertus Johannes Toxopeus (en) en 1930. Son espèce type est Lycaena caelius C. & R. Felder, 1860^[1].

Répartition

Les espèces du genre Psychonotis sont originaires dune région s'étendant de Célèbes au Sud-Est de l'Australie^[2].

Mimétisme

Les imagos sont impliqués dans un anneau de mimétisme mullérien avec des membres du genre Danis et d'autres Lycaenidae^[2].

Psychonotis er en slekt av dagsommerfugler som tilhører undergrupper blåvinger i den store familie glansvinger (Lycaenidae).

Utseende

Middelsstore blåvinger (vingespenn 25-30 millimeter) uten stjerter på bakvingene. På oversiden er hannene blå med svarte ytterkanter, hunnene er svarte med et hvitt skråbånd. På undersiden har begge kjønn et bredt, hvitt felt i midten av vingene, kantene er mørkbrune, langs framkanten av forvingen med en stripe av grønnglinsende skjell og langs ytterkanten av bakvingen med et blått siksak-tverrbånd.

Levevis

Larvene lever på planter i slekten Alphitonia.

Utbredelse

Slekten er utbredt i Ny-Guinea og Australia med omkringliggende øyer.
