The larvae feed as leaf miners on Sorbus alnifolia.[1] The mine is ptychonomous and located on the upper surface of the leaf.[1]

Phyllonorycter uchidai is een vlinder uit de familie van de mineermotten (Gracillariidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1963 door Kumata.[1]
