Orthochromis polyacanthus is a species of cichlid native to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia, where it is known from the lower Congo River rapids near Pool Malebo (Stanley Pool) and the upper Congo River basin from the Kisangani area to the Lake Mweru basin.^[1][2] This species can reach a length of 11.8 centimetres (4.6 in) SL.^[2]

Orthochromis polyacanthus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de cichliden (Cichlidae).^[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1899 door Boulenger.

多棘直口非鯽，為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目隆頭魚亞目慈鯛科的其中一種，分布於非洲剛果河上游、Mweru湖流域，體長可達11.8公分，棲息在水流快速的溪流，生活習性不明。
