Asparagus officinalis (Garden Asparagus) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asparagaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to China, Hungary, France, Switzerland, Greece, Russia, Belgium, Romania, Georgia, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Poland, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Italy, Morocco, Iran, Lebanon, Austria, Turkey, Afghanistan, Moldova, Germany, Syria, Yugoslavia, Spain, Albania, Algeria, Bulgaria, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Denmark, Ukraine, Mongolia, and Portugal. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.69 m.
