Macromitrium perarislatum C. Mull. Bull. Herb. Boiss. 5: 560. 1897. Not M. peraristatum Broth. 1893.
Very closely related to M. cirrosum; leaves mostly entire; costa excurrent into a short, nearly smooth arista; upper leaf-cells in well-defined rows, mammillose in the upper median region; perichaetial leaves as in AT. cirrosum var. stenophyllum; seta usually less than 1 cm. long; capsules plainly but not strongly ribbed; inner peristome apparently not well developed, consisting of a membrane attached to the teeth.
Type locality: On rocks, Jamaica (Harris 10033).
Distribution: Mainly on twigs, bark, and wood; Jamaica (Nichols 117, Maxon 753, 1296, 9753); Cuba. (Acuna 367, Leon 11210).
